Students are assessed at the end of the course in the four skills areas:
– Listening 25% (a 35-minute exam for Foundation Tier, or a 45-minute exam for Higher)
– Reading 25% (a 45-minute exam for Foundation Tier, or a 60-minute exam for Higher)
– Speaking 25% (a 7-9-minute exam for Foundation Tier, or a 10-12-minute exam for Higher)
– Writing 25% (a 60-minute exam for Foundation Tier, or a 75-minute exam for Higher)
Continual exam practice and interventions will take place throughout the students’ learning journey to ensure that any misconceptions are addressed prior to their final GCSE exam.
We offer a curriculum that is designed to develop enthusiastic learners who are confident in the key skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Translation, Dictation and Vocabulary retention. Students experience opportunities that broaden their multicultural awareness which is fundamental to their success in education and beyond.
Any! More specific language-related careers include translation and interpretation, teaching, international relationships, working for the government, private national and international companies, sales and buying, travel and tourism, to name but a few. Additionally, those who fluently speak a second language are more employable and research shows that on average they obtain higher salaries.
