QAN: 603/0304/9.
The course is assessed through 2 external examinations. Each examination is 105 minutes long and there are 90 marks available in each. The papers comprise of multiple choice questions, short answer questions and longer data/case study based questions.
The content for the exams is as follows:
Paper 1
Business in the real world – purpose, ownership, stakeholders, location, business planning.
Influences on Business – Technology, ethical considerations, economic climate, legislation.
Business Operations – Production processes, procurement, the concept of quality, customer service.
Human Resources – Organisational structures, recruitment, motivation, training.
Paper 2
Business in the real world – purpose, ownership, stakeholders, location, business planning.
Influences on Business – Technology, ethical considerations, economic climate, legislation.
Marketing – Segmentation, understanding customers and consumers, market research, the marketing mix.
Finance – Sources of finance, cash flow, financial terms and calculations, analysing financial performance.
Title: Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business.
QAN: 601/7159/5.
This is a two-year course and equivalent to 1 A Level. Students will study four units in total, comprising a variety of interesting and relevant business topics across the two years. The content will be assessed through both internal coursework and external assessments.
Year One
Unit 1: Exploring Business (internally assessed unit).
In this introductory unit, learners study the purposes of different businesses, their structure, the effect of the external environment, and how they need to be dynamic and innovative to survive.
Unit 2: Developing a marketing campaign (externally assessed unit).
A task is set and marked by Pearson and completed under supervised conditions. Learners will gain skills relating to, and an understanding of, how a marketing campaign is developed.
Year 2
Unit 3: Personal and business finance (externally assessed unit).
Learners study the purpose and importance of personal and business finance. They will develop the skills and knowledge needed to understand, analyse and prepare financial information.
Unit 8: Recruitment and selection process (internally assessed unit).
Learners explore how the recruitment process is carried out in a business. The unit gives learners the opportunity to participate in selection interviews and review their performance.
