Here at Ernesford Grange we are committed to raising awareness of Mental Health issues and getting students and staff alike talking to one another.
We have a dedicated Mental Health Lead in school and a team of support staff who are available for students throughout the day. We provided emotional support for students who are struggling with their mental health or the needs of someone else.
Recently we became part of the Primary Mental Health Service Trailblazers Scheme working with the MHST (Mental Health in Schools Team) They are working closely with us as school and provide 1-1 and group sessions for students. They work on a referral basis so each student is referred to them by our Mental Health Lead and then parents and carers are contacted for consent and initial assessments begin. They can work with students surrounded a wide range of issues including:
-
Sleep Hygiene and Wellbeing
-
Changes, Loss and Transitions
-
Low Mood
-
Worry Management
-
Relaxation
We also have access to a number of different outside agencies that we can refer students to if they need in depth specialist support.
Our aim is to ensure each student can identify and approach at least 2 people in school that they could turn to if they needed some support or someone to check in with.
Young Minds is a fabulous children’s mental health charity. Their website is full to the brim with helpful articles and videos for both parents, carers and children of any age.

We have recently celebrated World Mental Health Day at school together with Young Minds. Our Inclusion team provided students with resources and information to ‘start the conversation’ surrounding mental health. There was a real buzz around school and we have already seen an impact with our students coming to talk and ask for help when they need it.
